EBook or PDF for a class?

So I'm taking this class and we need a text. It is an older edition, and normally this wouldn't be a problem. However, the publisher is buying up old editions to inflate sales of the new one. Writing is Bad Can you please help me find some links?

hello everyone i am junior in college of business and am taking a "Professional Skills Development" class which is in more detail an advanced speech class. well i have no problem with public speaking, in fact have won many public speaking competitions both at the college and high school level. I however do not see eye to eye with my professor. She is a grammar fanatic and supports nothing but her precious writing. I have written an essay in a past class on the negative effects of writing and can remember most of them however i need APA cites and have to write a few lit reviews. So my PROBLEM is i can not find any of the sources i used before i just spent over an hour searching the web with no success. So if you guys could give me some links to some good sources or some ISBN numbers of some books that would be awesome. When it comes to textbooks, what do they mean when they say that it is a 'brief' edition?

I'm looking for cheap textbooks. I kept putting in the ISBN number, and then I realized that was dumb. All I would get was the newest most expensive (even on sites like cheaptextbooks.com). So I started searching just by the title I found stuff really cheap, but it said brief edition. I figure the edition (especially on a spanish textbook) doesn't really matter. How well would a legitimate, credible, backed by credentials health book do selling off Lulu?

I have 3 degrees, decades of experience, great book already written, no competition, I see lots of curiosity about this subject out on the net.

But -- I cannot approach any publishers even with a query without a book agent. In searching for days for a book agent, each one wants from 1-3 months to review the query or fees up front, each with their own particular leanings, and then the publisher could take another 3-6 months to decide. Since I already have my manuscript proofed, edited, graphics and cover done, what about Lulu? It's free to publish, they take 20% off sales. One agent wrote that self-publishing is "the kiss of death" for a book, and though I have an ISBN, this agent says these books will never sell on Amazon, etc. even though Lulu says they will.

What's really going on? Thanks for any input.|||The only problem with self published books is the marketing - individuals don't have access to the major book stores. Amazon sells anything, so don't be put off by that.

Thanks|||The only book that I know of that deals with the 2805 module is the core textbook, printed by Cambridge university press and possibly written by Mary Jones, assuming it is the same author as for the other textbooks in this collection. These are the textbooks used, before the Essential AS and A2 ones came out, to which the optional modules are not accounted for. the ISBN is 0521787211 and the website for purchasing on Amazon is http://www.amazon.co.uk/Development-Repr鈥?/a> Alternatively, you could get a larger textbook, covering all areas of A-level, e.g. A2 level biology, ISBN 0582429455, Longman publishing.

For unifying concepts, of course the best thing to do is go over what you have learnt in previous modules. Collins does a revision guide that is designed for practising the unifying concepts exam, the ISBN being 0-00-712422-8.

Other books I found useful for going over general topics (I am a previous A-level biologist, OCR syllabus):

Is there a way to get all the answers for my math book?

I'm enrolled in an online Business Math class. We're using the book "Contemporary Mathematics for Business and Consumers" the 5th Edition by Robert Brechner (ISBN: 978-0-324-56849-3). While doing the Review Exercises for a certain Chapter I've found myself struggling on an even numbered question. Unfortunately, the book only reveals the answers for the odd numbered questions. I'm of course allowed to ask for help via my online classroom's discussion board, but it often takes nearly 48 hours to receive a response from anyone and I need help now, not in 48 hours. So, I was wondering (and yes, I've done a bing.com search for this already) if it's possible to find ALL the answers for this specific math book online? Or any other book for that matter. I believe if I can find at least one website with some answers I should be able to squeeze out some more websites from that one, if you know what I mean.

If not, oh well, life will go on and I won't know how to do this specific type of problem...fingers crossed it won't be on the exam ;P

How do I find an old book no longer in print?

My mom's biological father wrote an autobiography of sorts while serving time in a prison in Indiana. It was part of his prison ministry and was written sometime in the 70's. My mother read it once and then gave it back to her sibling who has since lost it. Seeing as she has almost no memories of her biological father I thought to find this book would be a great gift to her. She said that she thought there was only about (at most) 1,000 printed. It did have an ISBN number. His name was Roger Kerr. I have tried bookfinder.com, goodreads, half.com, ebay, etc. To no avail. Does anyone know of an online resource to search for books like this? It's very possible there are no remaining copies, but just in case there are I thought it couldn't hurt to try. My mom does not remember the title of the book. Thanks!|||You migjt try the prison library. Failing that, go to a regular library and ask suggestions for tracing a book. Good luck with your search.|||Go to a real book store and ask them. They usually have connections that regular people do not have.|||This is a long shot but if you haven't already see if there are on-line resources that would get you some from the Library of Congress (if it got an ISBN, it almost certainly was filed there, too) You might get the title that way and that would make the search easier.

Your task is to implement a Catalog of Books.?

Your task is to implement a Catalog of Books.

1. For this first you have to implement Book class The Book class is a simple class to store information about a particular book and it has the following data members:

o Title of the book (string)

o Author of the book (string)

o ISBN of the book (string)

o Status of the book (bool)

Write default and parameterized constructors and setters getters for the Book class.

2. Catalog class is a linked list of Book objects and that can perform the following functionality.

o Add method to add a book in the Catalog

o printAllBooks method to print all the books in the Catalog.

o searchByAuthor method will take author name as an argument and will find a book written by that author.

o Available method to print all those books that are currently available. If the status of a book is false than it means that book is not available, if the status is true then it means book is available.

3. Include a main function as follows:

o Main will create 5 different books and add them in Catalog

o Print all books present in Catalog linked list.

o Search a Book by its Author name.

o Print all the books which are available.

Hint:

Make Nodes of Book type and then link them to make Catalog linked list. It means there will be another class between Book and Catalog and that is BookNode class.

Questions about selling text books on barnes and noble>?

Ok so I'm trying to sell some text books of mine on barnes and noble but im having some diffiuclty. I have text books from this semester that I just finished and my first semester. They are in good condition. Years 2005 to present. But I was wondering a few things:

1. I put in my ISBN numbers and it tells me they only found 1 out of 4 numbers i typed in.. why?

2. Does barnes and noble program only accept paper back books?

3. Why can I sell a couple and not all of my books?

4. When I search for text books i'm trying to sell, I can find it on the website but it's not letting me sell the one I have to them.. why?

5. Finally, is there a maximum amount that they will give you for your books?

Thank you soo much for your help.. I hope i can sell more than just 2 books to them.|||I'm not sure if there is a reason you are specifically only looking into Barnes and Noble, but I know from personal experience that it's never the easiest or best site to work with.

Along with that, sadly, we get totally screwed trying to sell back textbooks. It's heartbreaking really, but that's how it goes for some reason. I'm to the point now where I try to only buy used books and I do a lot of research first. I often ask the professor if I can get an older copy that what is recommended, and often times it's allowed. It can save you tons of money, and you don't feel so crushed when you can't sell them back. (I've also gotten the international editions, and they are the same!)

I'd try some of these sites if you want to sell your books. Most of them are a lot more lax than B%26amp;N and therefore you have a better chance of making some money:

What is the difference in these vampire knight mangas?

This is the one i have:

http://www.s-book.net/plsql/net_isbn?isb鈥?/a>

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THEM????|||they have different backgrounds|||Well if the one u have is translated then maybe the covers have changed because of that...cant thing of anything else...|||There's no major difference except that the first link is for the Translated English Cover and the other is the Original Japanese Cover. lol...you can tell by reading the title. one's in english and the other's in japanese %26gt;%26lt;

~bluefaerie|||Well, the obvious difference between them is that they have different covers, one is in English and the other is in Japanese. Otherwise, I would say that the publisher of the specific books would be different... most likely...

What does it mean when the book it a reprint? Does it mean it is exactly the same as the last edition....?

or it is an updated version? If there are no changes I am nervous about getting a book on making baby food because it was first published in 1998 and things change so much in food safety.

The one published in 1998 is cheaper than the one published in 2008 so if I do decide to get the book I am wondering if I should just save the money and get the 1998 version.

This is the book: http://search.barnesandnoble.com/booksea鈥?/a>

or go to barnesandnoble.com and this is the ISBN: 9781435261907 |||If it has been updated or revised since the earlier edition, it should say so somewhere. As you point out, things change a lot in the area of nutrition and child care--I can't imagine why anyone would simply reprint a 10 year old book on the subject of baby food. I'd buy the newer one.|||Try to get a book published more recently. Reprints are usually exactly the same however additional matterial may be added at the start or end. If the body of the book is changed then it is "revised" and may have more recent information or expanded information. Books are reprinted if they have sold well and the publisher wants to print more at a very low cost (printing a book is expensive, reprints are very cheap to make) sell them for less and still make a good profit. Food and nutrition is a field constantly being researched and it will be to your advantage to get the latest information I would recommend going to a good library (or B%26amp;N) and looking through the latest books. Get one that you like.. ask the clerk which ones are good or best sellers.

If it was a work of literature I would say go for the lowest price.

It is good that you are thinking about things like this being a discriminating shopper is always a good thing.|||reprint means it is the same book but a later edition. perhaps with a new cover/binding.

When Amazon lists my books in Biblical Coptic, why do they include Action Heroes '95 Magazine #1?

I don't recall writing that one.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/search/ref=sr_a…|||Maybe there's another J. Warren Wells who wrote one of the articles appearing in that Magazine.

Aha! Among the list of authors for that magazine is a Bill *Warren* and a Sheelagh *J. Wells*. Apparently the search query is matching individual words of your name in any order instead of "J. Warren Wells" as one indivisible item.|||That is toooo funny. They aren't categorizing very well. Sort of like Yahoo when you leave it up to them to categorize your question.

You could think about this though; if you did write a comic book in Biblical Coptic, it may be a best seller! So, think about it. :+O|||LOL, maybe its a good sign. Action Heroes 95 magazine #1 is probably a classic of some sort.

The Coptic books may become classics in due time.

They are certainly useful to students and scholars.|||Maybe Amazon is trying to boost the sales of your book by advertising it alongside one which people might actually be interested in buying.

Engineering Question.?

I have been on the search for a few certain solution manuals for a few of my classes. Now I understand that if I cheat off the solution manual that I am basically not learning anything, however i believe my Professors took that into account, and basically changed each number on each problem.

Basically the Professor chooses a few random numbers from our school ID, and we need to use those Numbers, so at the same time you also cannot cheat/compare answers with the person who sits next to you cause he has different numbers to use.

So I will be using the solutions manuals just as a form of help. If I can see how it is done, then i can basically follow the same general steps.

I was pretty sure of this, but just to verify it, I went to the Library of Congress' website and looked up Gone With The Wind. Sure enough, the 1936 and 1961 editions have very different LCCNs. So I'm not sure how you will be able to find information on the 1959 edition if the Library of Congress doesn't list it. Depending on what you're wanting to know, your local public library may be able to help...they have access to other sources that may give you the information you're looking for. Postscript--I looked on a national library database, and I was unable to find LCCNs for the 1946, 1950, 1953, 1959 or 1960 editions. It's weird. I was also unable to find ISBNs for any of them except for one. Of course back in the day, not all information was recorded, but I know that doesn't help you any. I'll ask a colleague about it tomorrow.

How is it that the college bookstores can sell you a textbook edition that the publisher says doesn't exist?

I know that the bookstores package bundles and change the ISBN numbers and all. But I'm smarter than that and search for the right edition to the required books and just buy them from students that used it last semester. However this term I have Music 100. They require The World of Music by David Willoughby with Connect Music (this is the online access where the you can take test and all that) edition 9. I couldn't find that edition anywhere online used or new so I called the publisher McGrawHIll and they even said that edition 7 is the latest version they don't have an 8 or 9. So I go to the teacher and ask him what version would be acceptable as the publisher has no version 9 out there. He sends me back an email stating that this term they are switching to using edition 9 with the Connect online. WTH!!! I could understand if they bundled and changed the ISBN and came up with some astronomical fee to charge but they are scamming me for believing that there is an edition that the publishers are unaware of. Hmmmm how is this possible? Anyone have experiences like this?|||Since something is obviously wrong I would just go to the bookstore and ask to see the assigned book. I'm familiar with Connect when used with the Kamien book (Music: An Appreciation) but the most recent edition of that book is the 10th. The 7th edition of your book is brand new, 2012 copyright and you are extremely unlikely to find it used anywhere since it was published toward the end of the fall semester.|||You may have the wrong edition or got someone in the publishers office who did not know what she was doing./

Buying used textbooks online?

i did not want to buy textbooks on my school's bookstore because they are too expensive but i was confused when i started searching online since my school bookstore does not provide the isbn number

instead it writes the edition like this: 3rd 07

that means the publication date is 2007 right? but when i searched the third edition of the book the date does not match, its usually an older date...i was wondering if it would still have the same exact material that i need.|||Good luck finding the books you need on-line. I tried the same thing and decided to go to the school bookstore just to ensure I was getting the correct book.|||My school does the same thing. I just look for the correct edition number. I've never had any problems going that way. You could also go to your school's bookstore and write the ISBN number down.

The past comes back to haunt you . .

When I was in the fourth grade, my dad bought my sisters and I a giant box of books. One of the books was called "The Power of the Rellard" by Carolyn Logan. Another book was called "The Palomino" by Virginia Vail. Now, when i went to search for them online it took a while because I guess they're out of print. (and I didn't know the authors, I was doing an image search on Google)

My questions are: Has that ever happened to you? You remembered a book you read when you were a kid and wanted to read it again, but just couldn't find it, either because you didn't remember the title and/or author, it was out of print, you knew what the cover looked like and still couldn't find it, or because no one on Y!Answers could help?

I would like to pose this question to the United Kingdom community, since I believe this book is published by a British company.

How can I read or at least search inside the book titled:

Advanced Chemistry by James Maple,

Published December 1995 by John Murray

ISBN: 071955398

In particular, I would like to see the chapters describing Stoichiometry, Mass-Gram, Molar Ratios, etc. I believe a good chemistry book develops this topic very thoroughly.

Thanks,

There are several used book sites that you may be able to get the book for cheap or visit a library. In Google books, by entering your zip/post code, you can find the library nearest to you that has the book.

Help finding a Book on Modern Fighter Planes?

I am looking for a book on Modern Fighter Planes but I only have a description of the cover to go by and not much else. I had gone to a Book sale at the Library last month and picked out a book then decided not to buy it and now I am trying to find it on Amazon but to no avail. I have search over 1,000 book titles but haven't found it yet. Maybe someone here can help. Here is the description on the cover of the book.

What I can remember is that the word FIGHTERS is in all caps and in Bold white lettering. I don't know what might have been above the Fighters title. The picture on the cover is of either a Sepcat Jaguar or a Panavia Tornado semi head on view going vertical. Copyright would be in the late 1970's around 1977-1978. Book would be 14 Inches high and 12 inches wide.

Best way to keep a list of books read?

I currently have a Microsoft Word document listing all of them, and I'm just wondering if there's a website or other computer program that would be better than what I currently have set up. All I want is to be able to list the book, its author, and whether or not I've read it before.

Additional: you can befriend authors that also have goodreads accounts, receive free giveaways, rate books you have read on a 1-5 scale, take quizzes and trivias, and join group discussions.

Good Luck.|||There is a ASL class at my school, some of my friends take it and they say it's the easiest class they have.|||it depends on how your brain picks it up and how eager you are in learning american sign language. i learned the "basics" for a week.|||I had a look at the American sign language, it is different to Australian, not much though, but I have a granddaughter who is deaf so we had to learn, it is fairly easy to do.

Looking for this book....?

I've been looking online for a Hans Christian Andersen book called Fairy Tales, Vol 1. The ISBN is 8741241045, however whenever I search that number is brings up a different edition to the one I'm looking for.

I'm looking for a red hard cover book, with a gold flower on the front. It was translated by Keigwin, with Pederson/Frolich illustrations. Published in Odense.

Anyone know where I can find it - or a starting point? I think it may be very rare.|||I don't know. You can try stores like Borders or Barnes and Noble, or go to older bookstores in town.

I found a book of fairy tales by Hans Christian Andersen that's leather bound on the Barnes and Noble site:

How do you appropriately organize a vast book library?

I have a large book library of basically one genre: Star Trek Books. In most cases these books are one shot books that should basically be categorized as "Star Trek - (Name of Book Goes Here)" when using cataloging software. But I have a bit of a conundrum: some of these stories are spread out over multiple books hence having the general "Star Trek", then a Sub title to that, then a Sub heading and book number. And because of that, I'm not sure if it should be categorized as follows:

ex. 1: Title - Subtitle: Sub Heading (book number)

i.e.: "Star Trek - Destiny: Gods of Night (Book 1)

Or

ex. 2: Title - Subtitle (book number): Sub heading

i.e.: "Star Trek - Destiny (Book 1): Gods of Night

OR

ex. 3: Title - Subtitle, book number: sub heading

i.e.: "Star Trek - Destiny, Book 1: Gods of Night"

The reason I'm asking this very detailed question is because I want the books to be easily searchable within my iPhone's eBook reader. let's pretend for a second that I can't add a sorting algorithm that allows me to change the way it's sorted from the title (like you can do in iTunes, having it display the way you want it to look, but giving it a basic sorting order hidden behind the scenes).

I'd like to know, as per library science or Library of Congress/Dewey Decimal, what the proper way to order them would be while still retaining the most info (as I know when searching by ISBN, sometimes the first book in the series isn't labeled as "book 1").

Thanks in advance.|||ex. 1: Title - Subtitle: Sub Heading (book number)

i.e.: "Star Trek - Destiny: Gods of Night (Book1)

this is less compiscated and sounds simple so more people will be able to fnd what they're loooking for quickker ^^

Wondering what my Larry Bird autographed book is worth??

Does anyone knowledgable want to take a rough guess as to the value (in USD$) of a signed copy of this book by Celtic's legand Larry Bird? The book is a large, hardcover edition entitled 'The Boston Celtics - A Championship Tradition - Fifty Years.'

Here is a link with a copy of the book i own:

http://www.bestwebbuys.com/The_Boston_Celtics-ISBN_9781887656061.html?isrc=b-search

The copy I own is a limited edition given to me 10 years ago or so as a gift by the Boston Celtics for season ticket holders only. Luckily, I am 100% sure that this is Bird's genuine signature because I saw him sign it himself at a benefit event sponsored by the NBA. It's still in near mint to mint condion.

(If this item really intrigues anyone...I have no plans to sell it (anytime soon), but that isin't to say that I am not willing to entertain offers that appeal to me. Post your email address below if you are maybe interested and I will respond to you with an email if you'd like.)

Thanks|||100-500|||Probably around $80-$100. I have quite a few Bird auto's.
